Dragon Selection day!
As a Dragon collector, of course I was excited when I learned about the Dragon Selection TCG set and goods! I had been hoping for more dragons to get featured, but hey, we still have the rest of this Year of the Dragon left~
Before and even after the release date, the most I could find for photos of most of these items were from that PokeCen stock image. So, I took a bunch of big photos (all clickable for full size) to share with you all!
Here is my haul, squeezed into my lightbox:
Let's take some closer looks! I nabbed some appropriate items for size reference.
The item I was most excited about was the messenger bag, as I just love purses and bags of this type ^_^ I'd been wondering if the outside might have a fine dragon print only visible up close, but couldn't tell in any of the photos - and now can confirm it doesn't, it's just plain black with the Dragon Selection band. This does make it less obviously a Pokemon thing though (if you're into that?)
I was really surprised by the size when I first saw it - at about 12" wide, it's the smallest "messenger bag" I've ever had! But, I quickly realized that to be a good thing, because I have lots of big bags and few smaller ones, and this means I can actually use it! (Though the collector part of me kind of hates to dirty it up...)
Here's a peek at the inside. As you can see, it's got the blue Dragon Selection print to match the wallet and pass case. (And for those who wondered, no, the print only features the 5 dragons in this promotion.) There is a little zipper pull with the Dragon type symbol. (You can bet I'll be putting some Dex charms on this when I get ready to use it!)
Look deeper inside, and you can see about how much space there is. In addition to the zippered pocket in the previous photo, there's also a velcro'd compartment in the back. (Gotta remember not to use my knitted gloves with this bag, because the main flap is velcro too!)
With our Druddigon Kid and a Salamence line charm set for size reference. The bag easily fits the the wallet with tons of room to spare.
And speaking of the wallet, here it is! This was another item I was really set on getting, since I like the blatant Pokemon design on it! I do like the wallet I already have though..so I think this might become my 'traveling abroad' wallet.
As you can see, it also has that Dragon type symbol zipper pull, as well as a chain so you can hang it on your purse or pants or whatever.
Open it up, and it's got lots of room for cards! Like the messenger bag, it uses velcro closure.
The bills pocket in the back zips shut, and is also nice and roomy.
Inside size reference!
Here is the pass case, which has that same pattern! This is meant to hold things like your bus/train pass, and IDs. I pulled out the Dragon Selection card (which I'll of course save) a little bit to show the inside. I might use this abroad too, I'm not sure yet...or maybe here, since I ride the subway here pretty regularly now...
These are the pencil caps! In addition to the Dragon type symbol at the bottom of each, there is a little eraser of that symbol in the top part. I'll open this up when I'm ready to distribute the caps to their respective collections.
Much of the stuff I didn't get from this promotion I felt was heavily focused on Rayquaza, who I do like and collect, but I try to keep his collection small and I'm pretty done with it at this point. I did want to get one thing featuring the big Dragon Selection design though, so I opted for this pencilboard, which I'll probably put up on my wall somewhere!
I did want to get all the stuff featuring Salamence singly (who I collect the most out of these 5 dragons), so I went for all the clearfiles! They are beautiful and have a slightly metallic sheen to them. I don't have a good way to photo clearfiles (other than scanning maybe?) so if you want to see better photos of them, check out the blog of the queen of clearfiles, asami_1120, which you can see here. (As of now, she hasn't uploaded the photos yet, but I'm sure she will!)
The t-shirt I was a little unsure about, but my boyfriend talked me into adding it to my order. I'm sure glad he did, because it's awesome! The size 150 version is maybe a little smaller than the S size at Nintendo World (with the BW starter, Reshiram/Zekrom, and legendary dog shirts), but the material is softer, not as heavy, and I think feels nicer. The printing method is totally different too, instead of a thick sort of paint it's flat and smooth? Hard to describe as I don't know anything about printing materials, but I like it a lot! I'll definitely wear it to my next Pokemon event.
And if you were curious about the back, here it is! Looks almost like a rock concert shirt, doesn't it?
That's it for my Dragon Selection items, but there was one more Dragon in the package...
I got my Zweilous MPC as well! He stands up even worse than Hydreigon since he doesn't have smaller heads to hold him up, so I propped both of these back up for photos. Faceplanting issues aside, he's adorable and makes me even more excited to have the full trio! (In May/June?)
and to finish this off, here is what happens if I don't prop them up.
Thanks for reading! ^_^
