THE THING WITH THE HAIR WHO HAS TOYS ([info]jaxtoys) wrote in [info]pkmncollectors,

Don't wanna use Rinkya?

I noticed alot of people complain about Rinkya and there fees and how hard they are to use, so, here another source you all might consider useing! =D It's what I use and I know you all love me soooooo.....

*prays this isn't considered off topic, it DOES relate to Pokemon collecting after all*

Well, we all know Rinkya's fees are a bit, well, lets face it, there horrible.

So, I did some searching, because I wanted to order some stuff on YahooJapan, and really didn't wanna bother people with my orders and such. So I found Shopping Mall Japan: http://www.shoppingmalljapan.com/

The great thing about them is, only a $5 fee for all auctions up to 2000 yen, and a $2.50 fee for wire transfer. Now, thats not cheap, but lets face it, it's much cheaper then Rinkya's $15 for a winning auction.

Another great thing, they accept PayPal! A downside though, you have to set down a deposit, but if you use paypal, you get 5x bidding power. So, if you put down like $20, thats about 10,000 yen of bidding power!

Also, you can later use that $20 for payments, like lets take my example. I spent about $50 right? So I used $14 for deposit, so I can still bid, and I didn't have to use all new money.

Another big upside, they have a fourm where you can ask whatever you want, the people are super nice as are the owners of the site. They are always willing to help. And, they don't over charge you for shipping, it's always really reasonable, and they have there own warehouse in the States, where you can store things for up to 3 months!

All and all, I really recommend them, really nice people, and really reasonable fees.

However, there search is a bit more complicated, but more detailed. For example, when you search 'Toys and Games -> All' you can look up the pokemons japanese characters on Wikipedia or Bulbapeida and search them there. And they translate everything. Of course, I still use Rinkya for searching sometimes.

Be WARNED though, as I know alot of people here like Zukans, they cost a lot to ship (for a full set), just wanna throw that out there!

And also. PLEASE DON'T EMAIL ME ASKING ME TO BID ON THINGS FOR YOU ><; I love you all, but seriously, I'm not opening up a service XD It's JUST a review of a service.

I actually had a question, and I did sign up, I have yet to make a deposit.

You say that if you make a $20 deposit, you can bid up to 10,000 yen? Okay, I understand how that works, I was planning on doing a $10 deposit, so that would be around 5,000 yen for me.

Now, let's say I do a $20 deposit, and find an item for a buy it now price of 10,000 yen. Okay, cool. But the cost of shipping and such will put me over a total of 10,000 yen. So what I am asking is do they count shipping and handling fees in as the total amount you're allowed to buy, or do those not count as the maximum you're allowed to bid with?

I hope my question isn't too confusing XD! Anyways, I do eventually plan to use their service, but not until I make a deposit.

Erm I also looked on their FAQ, I didn't realize they had forums, so if this has been asked I am sorry XD! And...I didn't see it on their FAQ, but then again I am prone to missing stuff, because it was at like 4:00 am and for some reason I am really really tired all of the time now.

I'm pretty sure they don't count it

Because lets say you did get an item for 10,000 yen, after you pay (so long as you don't pay with the deposit) you will get the 10,000 yen added back towards you total deposit, in other words, they don't take away any money from your deposit unless you actually pay with it. =D In other words, it's only a bidding amount, not really yen your spendings (I made that mistake at first XD)

I didn't check the forums, but you might wanna double check there for this question, or ask it, because I'm still a newbie. They are supernice people though, all of my questions where answered very quickly.

Awesome, thanks! I doubt I'll be bidding over anything that is going to be over 5,000 yen (since my deposit will be $10, and I can't afford anything that costs more then about $30 including shipping and handling haha, thanks college). Thanks tho, I can't wait to use this place ;;

The deposit is only toward the bid price. The same amount goes toward multiple auctions, as well. I made a $10 deposit through paypal, and ended up with a 5500 yen limit. I'm bidding 1500 yen on one auction and I bid 600 yen on another, so I'm only allowed to bid up to 3400 on anything else, until I pay off the original auctions.

Awesome. How long did it take for you to get your items? And how long did it take for them to get your items in their warehouse place :o?

Hmm. I closed one auction yesterday, and I haven't heard anything about it as of this morning and ... I have another auction closing in three days.

I have ordered things from Japan on ebay before, and media mail took about three weeks. But then my order from Play-Asia shipped the day after I paid and arrived a day after that.

So... Still waiting on that one.

As much as I love and adore Rinkya... it may be time to move on to something cheaper. I SHALL TRY IT OUT!!

IT'S EASIER AND SPIFFER!

Since you don't live in the states, you might wanna ask them which is cheaper, shipping from there Japan Warehouse of US Warehouse. Either way, from what I've heard, alot of the people who use it are former Rinkya users XD

NEATO!! Maybe if this keeps up, Rinkya will have to lower their ridiculous prices to keep their customers!

I've been using SMJ for over a year now. It's absolutely amazing, it's quick and they always answer my emails within the same day I send it. I recommend it to anyone.

Never tried it...

But I must say Celga, which I was referred to by a couple of members here, is excellent. They're really personal with their emails, and they seem to actually know who you are when you're mailing them.
Excellent service, I must say.

I found another one. It seems to be cheaper than Rinkya [but I have never used either so I don't know in practice.]
http://www.JapanAuctionCenter.com
You can buy a 'weekly pass' to bid on as many auctions as you like for no additional fee. Has anyone used them?

I've just started using Celga as well. I've only used it once so far but I'm impressed with their service. I might look into this one as well. It doesn't hurt to know the different types of auctions sites out there. :)
