Has anyone from the community bought Pokemon merchandise from Amazon? Particularly pokedolls?
I don't have any experience buying Pokemon merchandise from Amazon (only other items) - nowadays I come here, scour legitimate online stores like Sunyshore and PokeVault, Y!J auctions, and occasionally snag a deal on eBay (when I finally find a legit item among the sea of bootlegs of course).
When I look on Amazon, it makes my bootleg radar go bonkers. I see a lot of stock photos of what appears to be official plush, but then randomly I'll see unofficial plush (i.e., dragonair) and some very derpy-looking pokedolls - which I assume to be bootleg. Inaccurate information also seems to be quite common, like the description will say "by Pokemon USA" and the picture shows a pokedoll with Japanese hang tag...
If the plushes come from a legitimate seller, like sold and fulfilled by Amazon itself, then perhaps no need to worry about it since a big company most likely would not take the risk of selling bootlegs (assumption). The only legitimate seller I know of on Amazon is Japan Video Games since I have personally gone to their store in Alhambra, CA. They have their own website but also list on Amazon.
When looking to buy legit Pokemon items, should Amazon be treated like eBay (with bootleg filter mode set on full-blast)? Is there a function (like on eBay) where you can ask questions to communicate with the seller on Amazon before buying?
If anyone can share their experience with Amazon sellers (other than Amazon and JapanVideoGames), it would be most helpful! Any advice is appreciated :)
