In the meantime, though, I did a little project today!
So I was lucky enough to find a Pokémon Center Larvitar for very cheap in a lot with some other things. I didn't have the money to buy the whole lot, but the seller was very accommodating and sweet and said I could separate out what I wanted and buy just them. Of course I snagged my Larvitar (who is SO CUTE--pictures whenever I do my collection post unless someone requests pictures of him), but I also spotted something else in the lot.
VAGUELY TERRIFYING, DURRR BOOTLEG LAPRAS
I chose to take on such a beast because--while it is bootlegged, I love Lapras and this one is 16" long! But when I received Lapras, I found it so creepy and weird (its eyes in particular) that I hid it behind one of my large piles of plush so I didn't have to look at it. A shame, because it's so soft and big.
Well today, I commenced an eye transplant so Lapras could finally feel loved and appreciated as she deserves! Her disfigurement was unjustified and sad, and finally Lapras could emerge from her hiding spot and hang with the rest of the plush.
She still looks...well, she's not beautiful by any stretch of the imagination. Her "Durrr"-levels are still high. But she is no longer ashamed to show her face.
She even found her baby, who had been separated from her at birth! It was a tearful and very sweet reunion:
Awww. Congrats, mommy Lapras!
As a bonus couple of photos, Lapras (pre-operation) with bootleg!chu (who will be leaving the household soon hopefully, as he is in this lot: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=260283983680 ). He is beyond saving, for he is very, very inbred and suffers from a number of genetic disorders.
A true testament as to why we must strive to outlaw or at least limit Pokémon inbreeding. A moment of silence for bootleg!chu and his numerous disfigurements and disorders.
(Moment of silence goes here.)
