Now that it appears to be...easier...onto my introduction proper! I'm putting it in a cut to be safe! Since it took up half of my screen, I want to make sure i'm not destroying the rules we all hold dear here.
My name is Shane! I'm a 20 something year old Pokemon fan who has been with the series for about 16 years now (and counting!). You can use they/them or he/him pronouns for me if you so desire. Or you can just call me Shane/Dubslider. I never really had a lot of experience collecting growing up as I was from a weird financial background (plus i moved a lot). I'd get a plush here and there, but MOST of my collection was regarding the TCG when I was young. i looooved playing the card game, and I even played competitively for a time. But, I've since hung up the towel and now I play the VG almost exclusively when it comes to competitive ANYTHING.
In terms of what I like to collect, when I can I love to get my hands on stuff that I've battled with in game. This can be pokemon such as Machamp, Feraligatr, Roserade, Gengar, Banette (and consequently mega banette...), Scizor, Gliscor, Azumarill...
and then there's Gallade. Gallade is by far my largest collection that is Pokemon related. If my stuff weren't currently packed away and suffering i'd take photos for you. Plus...something new for my collection hasnt yet arrived (but it will one day soon I hope!!). When Gallade first came out, I remember disliking him quite a bit. "Why did Gardevoir need a male alternate evo? Thats so silly, do they really need to emphasize garde's femininity???" was probably my most popular argument. ..but then I used him, and I never turned back. I learned to stop blaming the existence of Gallade for Garde's gendering issue, and I've been using him avidly ever since (even if...he's not the best competitively especially since garde got fairy typing). When his mega evo came out I remember being SUPER happy, and then SUPER pissed off that he got inner focus for an ability. Thanks game freak. But I worked with it anyway because i love my baby.
In terms of what im currently hunting for, I am starting to want merch of Rotom and Cloyster since they are newish additions to my team. I also like Hydreigon a lot, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Scizor has more merch than I first thought (though a plush would be great. Still waiting...).
ANYWAY to wrap stuff up i actually have a question regarding housing for your collection! Does anyone have any recommendations of shelving or containers for displaying their stuff? I have frankly been on the hunt for months (possibly years) for something that looks nice but is not..hundreds of dollars. If anyone knows anything of those criteria that is either pre-assembled or easily assembled, please let me know! Size isn't a huge issue, though I would appreciate more horizontal space than vertical. Photos in responses are more than welcome since I can gander that way.
In closing, hope to stay a part of this excellent community! Hugs to all of ya (if youre into that), and high fives to you too! (if youre into that).
