A Shiny Custom Get!! +Mewtwo Amiibo Pix

Hey everyone! The past week has been quite an eventful one... I returned from a camping trip a few days ago, went to PAX on Friday (and will be going back tomorrow), and experienced a 24-hour power outage... Washington has been experiencing a bit of a drought for the past month - and by that I mean our state is literally on fire - but yesterday Seattle was hit with a decent rain/windstorm that killed the lights for a lot of the city. Thankfully, our power came back on this afternoon, but our wifi is still out of service. :< I've been waiting a few days to finally make this post, basically.

Last month I bought a Weavile pose figure from gengareric that was missing its tail. I already have an intact one, but this guy was very cheap and his taillessness gave me an idea. Upon his arrival I contacted the highly talented lureche and asked if she'd be willing to take on a fun little project - giving Weavile a new appendage and a paint job! Though I hadn't planned on it at first, I soon decided to commission a new base as well. After some time spent at the spa in Ireland, Weavile showed up at my doorstep while I was away camping, and finally came out of the box just a few days ago. I'm so excited to share the results! :D

Look at this gorgeous 'Weav! As expected, Lureche did an absolutely beautiful job, and the custom paint job really blows the original tomy's out of the park. She even has a nice matte finish with just a little gloss on the eyes and coin to make them pop out. I especially love how much the eyes pop out. The slight outline around the eyes makes a big difference - the ones on the original paint job don't have that effect.
And check out that tail! It's absoutely perfect! It's even removable from the tush, just like original tail, and fits snugly.

And the BASE. This really blew me away. Like I said, I didn't initially plan on adding a base, but I thought, ahh, she'd look so much better sitting pretty on something. The original figure comes with a rocky, circular base, but I thought it'd be cooler to do something different. I gave Lureche a super rough sketch of what I had in mind - a snowy scene with some ice crystals. The result is, to say the least, STUNNING! Wow. This is pretty much exactly what I was picturing, and it was perfectly executed. The ice crystals are a beautiful array of blues and purples, and the rocks and snow have awesome texture. My camera honestly can't capture how sweet it looks.
You can also see the litle acrylic rods in the snow that help Weav stay planted on the base!

A little swap.. but honestly, classy shiny Weavile is much better suited for the snow!

And the two figures together! They look so good! <3 It was an absolute pleasure to work with Lureche - she worked very closely with me the whole time, sending me regular messages and photo updates. I would say that this is my first "big" professional commission job, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Weavile's shiny form has always been my top fave, and really. I feel like this is the pinnacle of figures in my collection. A beautiful representation of such an important Pokemon! Thank you so much, Lureche! <33

Here are Lureche's photos of Weavile on her Deviantart, which include pictures of tailless Weavile, too. If you're in the market for a sculpt and/or repaint, I highly reccomend this wonderful artist!

I also wanted to post some photos of the recently announced Mewtwo amiibo. There are probably much better pitures of it already floating around on the net (and I apologize if they were already posted to the comm), but I'm gonna put 'em up anyway :P It looks pretty good, but the legs are a little weird imo - they probably could've posed them so they aren't so splayed out from the base. The clear support block is also a little weird, and I imagine it'll be some strange color on the final release... But eh. What do you all think?

Some more pictures of the whole display case.. Sorry, I know my photography sucks.

The Pokemon panel at PAX was very disappointing. Obviously my expectations were much too high, lol. They didn't have a word on Pokken despite announcing its international release at Worlds last weekend. Just some stuff on a mobile game (Pokemon camp? idk) and the online TCG. They did have a friendly face hanging out, however, so I can't really complain... :D

I'll be going back for the last day of PAX tomorrow, but there isn't much more for me to report in the way of Pokemon.

Last but not least, just a quick picture of a new plush from zigguppafu! An absolutely adorable Christmaschu! Looks miragey to me, I love its little paws ;-; He'll be hanging out around my house when the Holidays draw near.

That's all for now! Have a quick sales plug. I am open to haggling and would love to push some items this week because I just dropped money on a new phone. Woop woop. I don't know when my internet will return, and I'll be gone all day tomorrow, but I will get back to you within the next day or two! I'm sorry in advance for slowness. (The mall I'm at is also going to close in eight minutes, so I won't be able to respond tonight at all most likely ;_;)

Thanks for looking! :D
