Well, the Champion's Path TCG set was probably bigger than anyone could've imagined. I regret not pre-ordering, as for some reason I thought this was going to be the next SwSh expansion, and not another Hidden Fates. HF was hard to find, but I remember walking into Target and them having a big set of stock that was untouched. Now? *whew*, I've seen videos and heard stories of Target vendors being stalked around the store of people waiting for them to put stuff out. Scalpers buying up a ton with bots (and openly admitting so in the Target.com reviews), collectors buying up like 10 boxes, and small business card sellers buying up a ton of stock, in order to go through and price individually. Then there's the aspect of people staying in more and getting more/back/into TCG, causing the prices to spike for the first time in a loooong time. It's been... something else.
So for those out there currently looking for these special box sets, how has it been going? Get lucky? Prepared and pre-ordered when everything was up? Still looking around?
For me, as I mentioned I regret not knowing that it was a special set (or would have such incredible demand) I did NOT preorder. Everywhere was sold out of Charizard ETB and pin set pre-orders early on (local Gamestops said people pre-ordered like 8+ per person...) I also didn't realize Dubwool was a Champions' Path for some reason. The moment the sets went up on release on PokeCen, did I find out that people used those infamous backdoor links I heard about, and got all the ETBs, rendering them "unavailable" once the links officially went up. I was lucky and snagged one of each of the 3 pin sets. I didn't know about Dubwool, got it new on eBay for only a $5 markup, which wasn't bad. Release date 2 and I added the 2 special pin collections to my part on PokeCen, one already sold out, removed it, the other wouldn't go through. Still looking for these. I was able to pre-order the Hatenna box off Amazon at some point, and it shipped yesterday. The Charizard ETB then added a PRE-ORDER (which PokeCen almost never does) for a re-print, which I GLADLY put in an order for! I can wait till the end of Nov... Today I hopped on PokeCen and got a Marnie box out of sheer luck (or maybe scalpers finally slowing down?), but that too did sell out when I checked later. Now, all that remains is hoping to find the 2 special pin collections, and hope I can hop on PokeCen in a couple weeks to get those 3 remaining pin sets. And then I think that's it?
It's been quite the rush to get in orders quickly, while every other store online are sold out or just plain charging twice as much... I like supporting small businesses, but I CANNOT support them charging way above MSRP because they price it as it's "worth"...
